The details of my existence are inconsequential. Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery... Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I am an information systems engineer in the Boston area. Previously, I was a researcher and the director of systems development at the Center for the Management of Information at the University of Arizona in Tucson. My research lead me to work extensively with the U.S. Navy. I've spent a fair amount of time at sea on a number of ships. Primarily, my research has been concerned with collaborative computing and network-centric operations. Within these broad areas I am most interested in providing situation awareness and decision support through collaborative tools. Another stream of research is in automated deception detection in video and text.

Although I don't participate actively anymore, I was the commander of A Battery, 1-180th Field Artillery Battalion, Arizona Army National Guard.  The battery served as the direct support artillery to the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment at Ft. Irwin, California.  I have also served as an air traffic controller, cavalry troop fire support officer, battery fire direction officer, battalion S-1 (staff personnel officer), battery executive officer, and as commander of C Battery, 2-180th Field Artillery.

I married Enrica, a lovely and whip-smart Italiana, in June 2007. In my spare time, I am a patron of the arts. You might want to check out the Museum of Bad Art. I made a donation and was quite proud when my submission was accepted into the permanent collection. I was further honored when MOBA published Green Cowboy and a quote from my letter in their 2000 calendar.
